10 Yard Dumpster Rental in Columbia, SC
The 10 yard is the smallest roll-off we drop, and it is the one most people order for the wrong reason. It is not simply "the cheap one" — it is the heavy-material container.

Why this is the concrete container
Dense material hits a weight limit long before it fills a container. Concrete runs roughly 1.5 tons per cubic yard. Put it in a 20 yard box and you reach the legal limit of what the truck can lift when the container is barely a third full — and an overloaded roll-off is one the driver cannot legally haul.
So for concrete, brick, block, asphalt, dirt, stone or tile, the 10 yard is correct even when it looks too small. The low 3.5-foot walls also matter: you are loading rubble by hand or by wheelbarrow, and lifting broken concrete over a six-foot wall is a genuinely bad afternoon.
Tell us if your load is mostly heavy material. We will quote a dedicated heavy-debris container rather than letting you book a larger box you cannot legally fill.
Good fits

- A concrete patio or walkway tear-out
- A small shed demolition
- Garage and attic clear-outs where the volume is modest
- Landscaping spoil, dirt and sod removal
- A single-room flooring replacement
Where people go wrong
Ordering a 10 for a whole-house cleanout. Household junk is bulky and light. Furniture, boxes and clothing fill volume fast without approaching the weight cap. You want a 20 or a 30, and you will still pay less than two hauls on a 10.
Mixing heavy and light. If the concrete is going in, keep the sofa out. Mixed loads mean you hit the weight limit with usable space left over, which is the worst of both.
